In 2014 my feet hurt in a way that no change in my orthotics would fix, plus I had aches and pains that a 60 year old woman might have that were mounting, but I didn’t know how to fix. Then I went on a vegan detox using the info from Dr. Furhman’s book Eat to Live where I ate no animal products for over 3 months, including more veggies that I was comfortable with in the beginning. I was used to eating lots of rabbit food, too!
Within several weeks I was sleeping through the night without supplements, and within 6 weeks, I noted that my feet no longer hurt me, plus I had lost some weight, and noted that I had no more foot pain and felt better than I had in years. The best part is that I didn’t need as many supplements as I was taking which cost me over three hundred dollars a month.
I read the book WHOLE by T. Colin Campbell. In it he explained the strength of whole foods over processed, including supplements, and the way that healthcare likes to look at the body in parts rather than the whole it is. Furhman has many testimonials of disease reversal when whole foods nutrition was applied to individual after individual whose bodies had broken down due to poor nutrition habits.
Because of thyroid issues, a strict vegan diet was not going to be for me for life, but as I gradually discovered that I do better with some meat protein and some animal products, but not in the amounts I was having before. I aim to choose wisely. I am finding that diet is a large part of the puzzle, yet there are other aspects that affect my choices which include my emotional, spiritual, other talents and relationships. When I address my concerns and get the feedback and direction I require, then I move ahead in strength. I am finding that support and want to offer it to you.
